About a year ago Cameron and I began a new part of our journey. It’s hard to describe all of the amazing moments, the hard ones, the joy, the faith, the God encounters, the life altering changes that can take place one year. This was a unique one for me. All of my life until now I have lived at the same address, most of my life at the same church. I love my life before this year, I love my town, I cherish my family my friends and my church. Getting married to my best friend (WOOHOO!!!) and leaving the country as missionaries didn’t change that a bit; It made me value those things even more.
Why change something when it’s so perfect to begin with? Why did we leave everything we knew and love so much? Well I wouldn’t call it leaving; I call it expanding the box of our vision, our idea. We decided every day to accept what makes us become fully alive; to take the road God has wherever it leads because we are in love with Him. God’s vision for our journey happened to reveal Mountain Gateway. Simply saying yes expanded the territory of our heart and feet to a place we had never known.
People often make it sound like those who leave the country as missionaries are paying the ultimate price to follow Jesus; we didn’t feel like that though. Really, being a true Christian is paying the ultimate price, giving your life away to accept Gods dreams for you, whatever they are.
See each of us has an exciting purpose, an intentional and marvelous journey with God. If accepted it will be challenging because it will cause us to die to our own life and live for Him radically. Whatever that is it is the “ultimate” price because it causes us to let go of our preconceived ideas and plans and become fully alive in His. Its not just new countries, its new perspective, God given relationships, ministry, a new assignment or one you can improve; its becoming the husband or wife, father or mother, son or daughter that God has called you to be. It is the change we choose daily when we move forward in Jesus. We are called to move forward, only things that are dead remain stagnant and still.
Obedience to whatever part of the picture God shows us is what causes us to live life to Gods fullest intention for us. So lets do it!
