GIVE them something to eat

When the 5,000 were hungry and hopeless Jesus said to the disciples "They do not need to go away. YOU GIVE them something to eat" (Matthew 15:16).

When someone comes to us in need of their life to be changed, in need of an impossibility or miracle, we CANNOT walk away! We cannot send them away for a later date, or think they will find Jesus another way. We have the ability and power to give them the bread of LIFE!  It is our selfless faith which makes all things possible through Christ Jesus. We love Him therefore, we love those that He loves. He said, YOU give them something to eat! It is my responsibility, your responsibility, no one else's.

The next statement is amazing... The disciples said to Jesus, "we only have this much...Jesus said: bring it here to me" (Matthew 14:17). No matter how small what we have is compared to the impossibility, He commands us as His disciples to bring it to Him. It is in our simple compassion and willingness to act in faith that makes the impossible possible!

We cannot ever try to do it in our own strength; (Thanks God!) but that does not excuse us from doing anything at all. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says "His strength is made perfect in our weakness". We are called to give people Jesus, whose power is limitless to change their life and give them freedom and hope!

I pray we do not send away the next person that asks us for the bread of freedom, hope or a miracle. I pray that we realize Jesus gave us the responsibility and power to see them through as we bring every impossibility to Him who moves mountains!

(If you would like to read the whole story which this post is based off of read Matthew 14:13-21.)

The PassionĀ

  • Hey Everyone!

  • One day Jesus told His followers that unless they eat His flesh and drink His blood, they would have no life in them. He said, “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:53). His followers were offended at Him, why would this man be so ludicrous and require this? Yet Jesus was talking in spiritual terms about partaking of His sacrificial death that would bring new life, eternal life.

  • Many followers turned away because they didn’t understand. Jesus turned asked the twelve disciples “do you also want to go away?” Peter profoundly said “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68 New King James Version).

  • This is how I feel as Cameron and I move into unknown and dangerous territories. It is the hope I have in Christ that drives every part of my being to follow Jesus wherever He leads me to go. It is my hunger for His presence and life that causes me to cast away any offense that could hinder me from a life that is dead to myself and alive to Christ.

  •  The reason the disciples lived and died like they did was for the Hope they had in Christ. The reason we have Hope is because the blood that He shed for us and the power of God that resurrected, Him giving us new life and the ability to come before God. John’s vision written in Revelation depicts the power of the resurrection. “One like the Son of Man…His head and His hair were white like wool, His eyes like a flame of fire, His voice the sound of many waters, out of His mouth went a sharp, two edged sword and His countenance was like the sun shining in strength”. This King of GLORY then spoke! “I am He who LIVES, and was dead, and behold I am alive…I have the keys of Hades and of Death” (Revelation 1:13-18). Through Jesus’ death and resurrection He broke the curse of sin and took back the right death and hell had over us! Paul said in I Corinthians 15:54-55 “death is swallowed up in victory, O death where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”

  • As one who is a Daughter of the Kingdom of God who has been given the freedom from death and have been granted the inheritance of life and hope I AM A DEBTOR to Christ to share His message and to live for Him. “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).
